| When starting out, measuring your body is just as, if not more, important as measuring your weight. The design locks the end of the tape to itself, forming a loop that allows for self-measurement, which is a huge deal for me. I originally bought a kit that included a set of calipers as well, but honestly they are too hard to get consistent measurements with ... and they were uncomfortable. Instead, I used a website like Active BF Calculator to estimate my body fat % based on the measurements I was taking with the tape. | |
| I'll go ahead and say this is the more expensive of the options. Withings makes a full line of smart scales, so I highly recommend looking at the options and finding one that fits your needs and budget. There are also non-Withings smart scales. I list this one as it is the model that I own, and am most knowledgeable about. At the core, it weighs you and tracks your weight for you - no more manually entering the data. This model also calculates body fat %, bone mass, muscle mass, heart rate, and Pulse Wave Velocity which is a measure of cardiovascular health. Getting the HealthMate app to communicate with other apps such as Cronometer will require properly managing interaction with either Apple Health or Google Fit. Native support for MyFitnessPal. |
