Revelation the 1st

Weekends are the devil, Bobby Bouscher!

Tracking intake during the week is relatively easy - the day is fairly structured, and so is consumption. The weekends, though, the weekends are hard. This weekend was particularly difficult as 18 and I decided to partake of the shenaniganry of St. Patrick's Day here in the States. So, lots of boozing, and the poor impulse control that comes with it.

This is actually okay, though. An occasional bounce is not a problem, as long as I'm aware of it and get right back on track the next day ... which is what I should have done starting Saturday. Hence the revelation as I sure as hell did not.

To be perfectly honest, part of the problem was that I just did not have the motivation or willpower to stay on track this past weekend, and a large part of that is the desire to be social with 18 and my friends. Saturday saw a visit to Chili's (try their new Smokehouse combo, it's pretty damn good) and a trip to the movies with the requisite bag of popcorn. These are things I desired, and will have a hard time giving up. It's a process.

Oh well. It's a learning experience, and now I know what to look out for next time. Speaking of, weigh-in is tomorrow. I'm not expecting much change, except possibly in the negative, as I have not done much so far to facilitate it. Again, though, I don't see that as a problem. I see this past week as a learning and focusing exercise, which is helping me to catalog what my issues are. The diet (by which I mean my daily food intake, not some fad) will slowly come in to focus as I make small changes here and there. Once I get through the hurdle of access to the campus fitness centers, things should start moving a bit quicker.

Yes, I know I could be doing body-weight exercises, but I know me - if I try to do too much at once, I'll get overwhelmed and discouraged when I don't see results quickly. Taking a slow, measured approach where I don't feel pressured or obligated means I'm much more likely to stick with the changes and continue making them.

Until next time, Krillers (apologies to Lanipator)!
